Sauerbruch Hutton designed the Behörde für Stadtentwicklung in Hamburg Wilhemsburg, completed in 2013. The complex begins with a tall high rise and central lobby with glazed facades. It spreads on both sides with wavy wings. The colorful striped exterior facade emphasizes the rolling waves of this form.
The interior invites sunlight and continues the highly repetitive forms, particularly with metal balustrades and railings. The two wings protectively surround a green courtyard space in the back.
