Europe Building, Amsterdam

DUS Architects designed the temporary entrance facade for the Europagebouw of the 2016 EU Presidency in Amsterdam. Currently underway, leaders from the European Union meet in the building to discuss policies and membership. The facade is a tent-like structure with some components made on a local 3D printer. The bioplastic will be recycled when the event is over.

Studio Edward van Vliet designed the interior with a stunning modern look. Portraits of important historical Europeans adorn the walls. Sky-like murals adorn the ceiling. Complex geometric patterns fill the floor, continuing the aesthetic of the entrance facade. Solar panels make the building green friendly. One innovation that the Dutch government boasts is drinking fountains with potable tap water. How modern!

The National Maritime Museum, shown below, is also a venue for the meetings.
