Central Train Station, Strasbourg

Jean-Marie Railway Duthilleul and RFR designed this glass dome that runs 120m above this historic railroad station. The Gare de Strasbourg was designed in 1883 by Berlin architect Johann Jacobsthal. The vital hub between Paris, Cologne, Basel, and Vienna survived the world wars and received its protective coating of glass in 2007.

The 25m space between the shell and station serves as an entrance transition space for subway, tram, bus, and train. New LSG glazing panes are set on 16 steel arches.

It has been reported that Zaha Hadid contributed to this project, but I cannot find any proof of this so I don’t think so.
