Burning Man Temple of Transition 2011, Nevada

Frederick DeLongchamps of Reno designed The Temple of Transition at this year’s Burning Man in Black Rock Nevada. Over 53,000 people showed up for the event this summer, practically a city of visitors camping out. Booths and camp sites were arranged rationally in a half-arc with the burning man statue at the focal point. Straight up from the focal points stood this impressive “temple” building.Like something out of Star Wars, it has classical and science fiction origins. The tree-tiered central tower stands 120 feet high and is connected by bridges to its surrounding five hexagonal towers. It took the record for tallest temporary wooden structure in the world, before being burned with everything else.
