Aristóteles Orsini Planetarium, Sao Paulo

Eduardo Corona, Roberto G. Tibau Pitombo and Antonio Carlos designed the Planetário Professor Aristóteles Orsini in Ibirapuera Park of São Paulo, Brazil. The building opened in 1957 and closed in 1999 due to roof leaks. It was later restored and reopened.

The brutal half-dome of metal and concrete is ringed by a yellow disk, which hints at the soft wood interior. Carl Zeiss led the restoration work, with 260 seats, disability access, and modern projectors.
