Booster Station-Zuid, Amsterdam Netherlands

Group A Architects designed the south Booster Station-Zuid in Amsterdam. The utility build houses three pumps for Amsterdam’s sewage.

It has the sleek appearance of an efficient engine, a stainless steel skin the wraps elegantly as if around a space-craft. Ducts and piping come out which “emphasizes the relation between form and function.” The busy metro line, streets, and pedestrian zones of Zuideramstel become reflected in the metal, which also achieves a unity with the infrastructure around it.
