Stata Center, MIT Massachusetts

The 720,000ft² Stata Center by Frank Gehry stands near Simmons Hall by Steven Holl on the MIT campus in Cambridge Massachusetts.

The Center facilitates the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems, and the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy, with offices for Noam Chomsky, Rodney Brooks, and Ron Rivest.

The $283.5 million Deconstructivist building explodes with creativity, with tilted walls and hodge-podged materials. It achieves a legible circulation while provided unexpected niches for social meetings. The project was completed 2004, and resulted in MIT suing Frank Gehry for “deficient design services.”
