Torre Gas Natural, Barcelona Spain

This photogenic project was designed by & Benedetta Tagliabue EMBT, who also did the Scottish parliament. The Torre Mare Nostrumn for the Catalan gas company faces the ocean, with the usual Barcelona architectural discusion of the marine world. The Olympic Village and the older La Barceloneta neighborhood intersect to establish a complex urban landscape that serves as the geometric basis for this office tower.

The fragmented buildings put the project on a small scale to match the context. Different colored glass relate to nearby buildings. The front doorway has a great cantilever above and a grand public plaza below, unifying the whole project to a single location in relation to the city.
