Lewis Glucksman Gallery, UCC Ireland

The Lewis Glucksman Gallery at the University College in Cork, Ireland was designed by O’Donnell + Tuomey Architects. The project seeks integration between modern and historic architecture, nature and man-made, inside and outside, and between university elements. The RIAI called it the best building of Ireland in 2005.

The entrance hall connects to the podium. The limestone podium relates to both the new building and built context. The gallery is raised to the level of the trees, and the cafe at ground level relates to the park and college.
